Good through balls are key to the game players must look up and play the pass so the target player can receive and then play back to the passing player. Players should be trying to make diagonal passes as they are more difficult to defend. If players are making bad passes get them to take an extra touch. Keep a close watch on the speed and accuracy of the short passes.

Players should be ready to score the second the ball is passed so link up play is essential and good shooting technique is vital (standing foot next to the ball and aim to kick just below the centre of the ball, too low and the ball will go over the bar of the small goals).

Players should be aware of the ball and not lose control over the speed of the ball. If the passes are too slow or to fast the chances of losing the ball are increased. First touch is important so that control of the ball is much easier and is not bouncing off the the players' feet.

You want to see quick short passes and players receiving and making decisions to dribble or pass. Correct players without stopping play and use breaks to make more detailed coaching advice.

The defending team must try to press to win the ball - not so easy when it is just one defender but after that the first player presses and then the other defenders must cover.
