Recovery is one of the most important principles of play and if players recover quickly, they are more likely to prevent goals from being scored. Anticipation, communication and speed are key factors for defenders.
When teams lose the ball they must react at speed and get back to cover the goal and force the attack away from goal.
For this drill you need an area 20 x 15 yards, split into two zones with the working players in the opposite zone to the goalkeeper. You need 5 players and a server, balls, bibs, cones and a goal.
