This is all about creating space by getting the ball out wide, switching play and accurate shooting.
Set up an area 40 x 30 yards with four target goals, two at each end.
Two teams of 5 players plus two neutral players who play on the sides outside the pitch.
Start with the rule that the attacks must go through the players on the outside of the pitch before teams can shoot at the goal. Then remove that rule to see if the coaching point has sunk in.
Neutral players can cross the ball in or play passes in.
Rotate the neutral players at regular intervals.
Players need to create and move into space to create passing and shooting opportunities.
This drill is all about using the wide players to maximise space, make sure that they know this!
Make the area bigger to make it easier or make it smaller to make it harder. You can also make the neutral players on the sides one or two touch.
