Developing players support, movement and combination play will help players to create and score more goals.
In this game we are looking at developing players support and combination play in and around the area, as well as challenging players to be creative with their finishing.
Area 15x10, with small goals at each end and a halfway line.
4 players, set up 2v2 inside practice.
Practice starts with coach playing ball into attackers and play 2v2, defenders drop one player back to cover creating a 2v1.
If defenders gain possession, they become attackers and opponents must drop one player back to goal reversing the 2v1 situation.
Progressions/Challenges:
To score both players must be across half way line
As soon as the team lose possession they must recover to their half and by hard to beat
Once attackers get into attacking half they cannot play back into their half
Try to combine quickly off minimal touches
Create space to combine
Movement to lose and unbalance defenders in order to receive
Try to support player on the ball
Play with head up - Check GKs positioning before getting shot off
Encourage players to be creative with their finishing
Try to set up a teammate to finish off one or two touches
Space – Change size of area
Task – Challenge players to finish off one touch
Equipment – Add two more target goals, players can now finish in any goal or select two goals per team
Players – Play 3v3 or 4v4
